FIMC
Welcomes
Jenny
Banister

FIMC have forged ties with iconic Australian Designer Jenny Bannister! A collection of Bannister’s archival pieces from the raging 70’s and the hedonistic 80’s are on display in the FIMC retail gallery for a limited time, complimenting her current collection on sale to the public. FIMC and Jenny Bannister launched the partnership on Friday the 23rd of May, with a networking session with designers and members of the public over glasses of bubbly! FIMC welcome Jenny to the fold, and looks forward to participating in a range of FIMC events throughout the year. Be sure to check out the installation of Jenny’s incredible anthology of garments in our retail gallery, which are usually reserved for collections in a range of Australian museums; such as the Powerhouse in Sydney. The installation features Bannister’s infamous Mad Max leather ensemble, and creates a colourful and historic contrast to the work of FIMC’s young aspiring designers. Stand out from the herd in one of her signature wild and beautiful cocktail dresses, which come
in a range of fabrics incorporating bamboo, steel, and delicate feathers.

GRIN AND
WEAR IT

Every piece within the range is hand made, unique, and made with passion and endeavours to use materials that not only make their Jewellery unique but also sturdy and ageless. Frieda McGirr has a background in the building and renovating industry but also persued her hobbies of sculpturing and painting through formal training. McGirr’s talents evolved
during her time as an artist selling contemporary art works through an Australian gallery to local, interstate, and overseas collectors. It was through the use of resin in her artwork that McGirr was inspired to make resin jewellery, because she absolutely loved its complex yet versatile nature. Brighten your winter wardrobe
with a splash of colour from the Grin and Wear it range, exclusively stocked at FIMC.

Melbourne architecture inspires couture show

French fashion designer Pierre Balmain once famously declared, “dressmaking is the architecture of movement”.

Melbourne Central shall bear witness to Fashion Incubator Melbourne Central’s first couture fashion parade ‘Skyline-Incubator Inspired’. Each elaborate garment, created by young designers at Fashion Incubator Melbourne, has been inspired by Melbourne’s landmark architectural sites.

The one night only parade will host a collection of 10 structural garments from designer labels Josua Andreas, Ryan Whelan, Zephyr Graham, Fooism, Ella, Omnicron, and Joli, among others.

Fashion Incubator Melbourne Central supports their 15 resident designers by means of supplying workspaces, materials, industry know-how, and business seminars, as well as providing a space to exhibit their collections in the retail gallery located on level 2 Melbourne Central.

Fashion Incubator has previously showcased the work of their young talented designers at various state and national fashion weeks. This is to be their first foray into the world of couture.

‘Skyline – Incubator Inspired’ promises glimpses of Australia’s future fashionistas at work, as they pay homage to the beautiful, eclectic and innately Melbourne architecture that captures the essence of our beloved skyline.
